About for Drought to be held in Grafton .

20-Sep-2018

About for Drought is a fundraiser to be held on October 14 at the Clarence River Jockey Club for Aussie Helpers.

About For Drought started as an idea for a raffle with a soccer club and morphed into a massive fundraiser with performers, kids activities, community organisation, raffles, an auction and more.

The organisers, Kylee White, Mark Orion and Gail Harding told OTA that entry to the family fun day is a gold coin donation. At 1pm, they will hold a 'rain dance' where everyone will do the Nutbush. For every person who dances, donors will give $1 to the cause.

Last year, Kylee White travelled across inland Australia and witnessed the drought, firsthand:

”We’ve seen it, we've stayed in it, we've lived it, and it breaks my heart,” she said.

"I think we want the farmers to know that we care; we love them; they are the backbone of the country and if the government won't do enough about it, we will.

"We're also doing a ‘Note for Home’, for everyone to write to farming families: to give them a little bit of support,” Ms White said.

You can find out more information on the About for Drought Community Fun Day Facebook page.
