FINKE RIVER ADVENTURES BY ATV

Lightweight, open-air, all-terrain vehicle tours in The Centre.

This company offers a novel way to experience the rugged beauty of Central Australia. Finke River Adventures has lightweight all-terrain vehicles that you can drive or passenger inside.

The company works with local Aboriginal guides (when available) to travel through the Finke Gorge National Park with tours heading to Palm Valley, Boggy Hole and beyond.

The side-by-side lightweight vehicles use approved tracks where few others have been and Finke River Adventures is uniquely licensed to show guests places of extraordinary beauty and cultural importance.

The tours are designed as a low-speed tag along experience and guests do have the opportunity to drive one of our Can-am ATVs.

The Can-am Commander Max Limited is the top of the range in all-terrain vehicles. It makes off-road adventures accessible without skimping on comfort or safety.

The Can-am’s 4WD system and automatic transmission make driving along the rugged and beautiful Finke River an enjoyable experience - even for novice off-roaders.

You can choose to drive yourself or sit tight and have one of our guides do the job!

The $350 per person Palm Valley one-day tour starts at 10:00am, takes around six hours and includes a light lunch.

The tour meanders down the Finke River bed from Hermannsburg along private, traffic-free tracks, while guests enjoy the rare beauty of the Finke Gorge National Park and learn about the ancient history and culture from experienced guides and local Aboriginal people (when available).

There’s time for a walk into Palm Valley, to experience this extraordinary oasis in the desert.

After Palm Valley there’s a lunch stop at the visitors’ information area and an opportunity for a short walk to the Kalarranga Lookout.

From there it’s a fun return drive along the Finke River arriving at the FRA Depot at Hermannsburg around 4:00pm.

The half-day $195 per person tour to Boggy Hole takes around four hours and involves an ATV drive along the Finke and Ellery river beds, deep into the Finke Gorge National Park, where guests can marvel at the stunning landscape created by the oldest river in the world.

There’s plenty of time to relax under the shade of enormous white river gums and spot fish thriving in the desert ponds.
